Makeup isn’t an easy code to crack and finding the right look can be difficult.  That’s why we turn to Marylisa Diaz, master of makeup for all ages and styles.  She shares insider trends and tips for an even more beautiful you!

1. What is your favorite makeup trend?

A strong eyebrow with a bold lip is my favorite trend right now. It depends on the complexion. It is important to make the color work with the skin. Hair color is a very important factor. It changes everything.

2. Provide one tip to fixing a bad beauty day instantly

Three necessities: Under eye concealer, mascara, blush. To me those are essential for a two-minute fix, but make sure to use the right concealer color! If you have the wrong color, it can create the opposite effect and actually bring out darkness under the eye

3. What’s your favorite part of working at Julien Farel?

Completing the Julien Farel look.  Julien Farel is known for artistry of hair.  I love designing make up looks with details that have a purpose. I’m passionate about having the makeup compliment the hair, color palette, and their entire outfit.

4. What question do clients ask you the most about makeup and what do you answer?

Everyone wants to know what makeup colors look best on them.  I always use the color theory.  My philosophy is to focus on bringing out your eyes and after that, everything falls into place.

5. Who is your style icon and why?

Old school Audrey Hepburn is a classic beauty that can’t be denied. Nowadays, I love Natalie Portman who resembles her. I also love Taylor Swift. I love her style. It’s fun and she always has great hair and makeup.

6. What is something people don’t know about you?

I wish all of my colleagues success and good health when I do my intensions – prayer. My dream is to help those in third world countries.

7. What’s your favorite Julien Farel product?

I love Julien Farel Smooth Crème. It is perfect for my curls! It smooths them and is a great finishing product.  I keep it in my purse for on-the-go touch ups.  It also acts as a light leave-in conditioner to hydrate my hair.
