Miami Swim: From the Ocean to the Beach Party

Ever imagine what it would be like to see a fashion show under a tent by the beach while sipping a cocktail and managing to walk on sand in stiletto heels? That’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim for you (also known as “Swim Week”). If you have never attended one, I’d describe the experience as a must-have for all fashion aficionados and swimwear lovers. This was my second consecutive time attending and it marked the celebration of its 10th Anniversary, which is not only a great feat but also a testimony of its success throughout the years. Designers that showed this season ranged from well-known names from both US and international markets. From well-known bathing suit maven Mara Hoffman to newcomer MIKOH, it was a season with lots of bold prints, wetsuits, and apres beach looks that will take you from the ocean to the beach party. Trends seen on the runways included graphic prints mixed with animal prints seen at Mara Hoffman to pearls over models bodies at LSpace to the all-black “Banzai Pipeline” wetsuit at MIKOH. The most notable hairstyle was at Mara Hoffman, the models sported a braid with palm tree leaves intertwined in their braid. In terms of cool hair accessories, MIKOH’s plant crowns take the prize.
