At last weekend's White House Correspondents Dinner, Michelle Obama quite literally popped out from the crowd in a magenta wool crepe gown by Michael Kors, and her deep plum makeup was equally dramatic. Celebrity makeup artist MaryLisa Diaz of the Julien Farel Salon in New York City gave tips on how to recreate this stunning look for an evening out. Next up, mastering bicep curls to get her arms!
EYES: Diaz says you need to use three different shades of purple on three areas of the eye. "Try Laura Mercier's African Violet ($22) under the brow for a bit of shimmer. Then apply Black Plum ($22) to the crease, and finish with Deep Night ($22) on the lid."
CHEEKS: "The eyes are dramatic, so her blush is very sheer. MAC’s powder blush in Gingerly ($18) is the perfect color. Brush it on the apples of your cheeks for a slight glow."
LIPS: "For a neutral look, line your lips with Chanel lip liner in nude ($28), and then add a light pink gloss, like Chanel Glossimer in Mica ($27)."
