7 Tips For Preserving Hair Color

When putting time and money into having your hair colored, it is an investment you want to last and maintain. Fighting the fade is necessary whether you're getting sun-kissed balayage or pastel unicorn hair. We asked top stylists and the industry's best color technicians at Julien Farel Salon and Spa, for their advice and these are the 7 best tips they have to share with you!

Color Tips

#1. Steer clear of water and sun

To preserve your hair color investment, don't wash your hair in the first 24 hours and if you can stretch it for longer, you should! Shampoo about once a week if possible. When you do shampoo, use a vitamin-rich, hydrating formula without Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLS). Julien Farel Vitamin Restore has a unique color preserving formulation with hyaluronic acid for advanced hydration. This miracle moisture molecule attracts and seals in moisture for touchable softness and manageability. The Vitamin formula  includes Vitamins B,C,E to nourish and strengthen to prevent over-drying, make hair more resilient against breakage and protect against environmental damage.

#5. If you go into pool water, always wet your hair before and add conditioner and after, do an apple cider vinegar rinse after (2 tablespoons of vinegar mixed with water), this will help to remove the chemicals from your hair and preserve your color!
