NYFW: Spring/Summer 2015 Hair & Makeup Inspiration

This NYFW season was all about bringing back the 70s, muted minimalism, elegant sportswear, and stripes, stripes, stripes! At Nanette Lepore, the deliciously beautiful pastel color palette of mint, canary yellow and sherbert pink brightened the runway as models walked exuding a savoir vivre as if they were hanging out in the south of France. The hairstyle selected for this show was a high twisted bun that was so casual it made it look as though the models did it themselves. A very natural look that made the fresh-faced models with minimal make-up look casually cool. The show wrapped with a very enthusiastic conga line of models dancing on the runway as if a beach party had just broken out. At Cynthia Rowley it was all about bringing the 70s back with bell-bottom pants, A-line shaped dresses, bold prints, and dresses over pants looks. Each model’s hair was styled to accentuate the mod look in a casual way - a regression side part with a side bang and parts of the hair pinned to the sides (see my next piece where I’ll show you how to recreate this look). I also had the opportunity to see the ever glamorous Venexiana show which showcased lots of red carpet ready dresses with intricate lace details, sequins, and lots, lots, lots of gold. The models wore their hair in a low bun with sections of the hair crimped. Last but not least, at the newcomer Alax W. Diamond’s presentation, it was all about color blocking. The new designer showed a cohesive but versatile collection that had a color palette of white, black, pink, yellow, and a graphic print. The models’ hair styles were pinned straight with a side part. Overall, this was one of my favorite seasons and not only because I love Spring/Summer collections but I had the opportunity to see lots of looks and hairstyles that I want to start wearing now. What's your favorite look of the season?
