Three Hairstyles; One Unforgettable Night

Adele

It's no secret that Adele had an unforgettable night at the 2017 Grammy Awards. Not only did she walk away with five Grammys - sweeping the top categories for Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year - but she did it with effortless grace and some impressive hairstyle changes. Kevin Lee, Style Director, shares how you can pull off changing your hairstyle three times in one evening. The good news? Whether you're headed to NYFW shows this week, or a jam packed date night, these three looks are very achievable. We finished all three within 35 minutes! Here is your step by step guide for recreating Adele's 2017 Grammy's hairstyles. Start all three looks by preparing wet hair with Julien Farel Sculpting Gel and blow dry lifting root off scalp to add volume.

LOOK 1 - RED CARPET: The Deconstructed French Twist

Look one

Step 1: Using a 1 1/2" barrel curling iron, curl large sections of hair to give it texture and dimension.

Step 2: Make a vertical parting from ear to ear, pin away front half. Back half should be twisted into french twist shape and secured with pins.

step 2

Step 3: Take front half and rake through with fingers, breaking up waves and begin pinning into the french twist.

step 3

Step 4: With your hands sculpt the remaining hair pushing the waves back in so texture and wave pattern are shown.

Step 5: Finish with Elnet hairspray.

LOOK 2 - OPENING PERFORMANCE: Effortless Sexy Texture

Look 2

Step 1: Use a small amount of Julien Farel Inflate Volumizing Balm and rake through dry hair. Take large sections with a 1 1/2" flat iron and curl sections. Why a flat iron? It helps to create a texture without adding a bouncy volume.

Step 2: Once entire head has been sectioned and curled with flat iron, go over each section with flat iron to add that much more texture by clamping down on curls.

Step 3: Tip head forward and shake hair vigorously, bring head upright. Take a small amount of Julien Farel Flexible Paste and detail ends, finger comb into place.

LOOK 3 - ACCEPTANCE SPEECH: Top Knot

Look 3

Step 1: Bring hair on top of head into a high ponytail and secure with hair elastic. Any hair that doesn't fit into ponytail secure with a pin.

look 3

Step 2: Pull wisps of hair out around hairline for softness, and check for balance and proportion.

Step 3: Back comb hair in ponytail, brush out the top layer so it is smooth.

Step 4: Shape the smoothed hair into topknot, and secure with pins. The finished look should have a sexy carelessness to it.
